Jacob sat in the apothecary, idly burning scraps of paper in a candle. It was one of those candles that smell terrible, but your grandma buys them anyway. Jacob didn’t have any grandparents, so he couldn’t imagine how it had gotten into this place. At any rate, it served the purpose of halfway distracting him from his present.
